Emma Hayes OBE

Emma was appointed manager of Chelsea in June 2012 and successfully lead them to the Women's FA Cup for the first time three years later. The team went on to gain the Women's Super League title in 2017 to complete a historic and memorable double. At the time, Emma was the only female manager in the league.   

Emma is also an accomplished public speaker having appeared at many conferences including the iconic Leaders in Sport, she is also a regular guest on Sky’s The Debate show and co-commentator on BBC 5live – Emma covered the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France with them.

In 2016, Emma was given an MBE for her services to football in the Queen’s 90th Birthday Honours, and in2021 was awarded an OBE for the same reason.

Emma Hayes won a plethora of fans during her stint in the punditry seat and commentary box at Euro 2020. She appeared in ITV's pundit team during the tournament and her expert commentary earned her widespread praise and the 2021 Broadcast Sport Awards Pundit of the Year.

After completing the domestic quadruple with Chelsea; winning the FA Women’s Community Shield in August 2020, and then in 2021, retaining the FA Women’s Continental League Cup and Barclays FA Women’s Super League title, winning back the Vitality Women’s FA Cup, and reaching the Women’s Champions League final, Emma Hayes was crowned Best FIFA Women's Coach for 2021.

Emma has been in management for over a decade. Her major achievements include : 

Joining the W-League side the Long Island Lady Riders for two years, becoming the youngest female head coach in W-League history. She was awarded the National Coach of the Year award in 2002. 

  • Awarded Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Coach of the Year in 2004 
  • Serving as Assistant First Team Coach Academy Director at Arsenal Women, helping  them to win 11 major trophies over three seasons.  
  • Serving as Head Coach and Director of Soccer Operations  at Chicago Red Stars, Coaching Consultant at Washington Freedom and  finally Technical Director at New York Flash   
  • First female manager to win the Women’s FA Cup three times (in 2015,2018,2021)
  • Leading Chelsea to their first Women’s Champions League Final
  • Domestic Quadruple in 2021 with Chelsea
